Awards, Tags and Willow's tooth surgery

G'day maties
Sometime ago we received this award from Baby Rocket Dog, Hootie, Maggie & Mitch.

This *** Award is apparently, bestowed upon a fellow blogger whose blog's content is, in the giver's opinion Brilliant.
The rules:"When accepting this auspicious award, you must write a post bragging about it, including the name of the misguided soul who thinks you deserve such acclaim, and link back to said person so everyone knows he or she is real.
Choose a minimum of 7 blogs that you find brilliant in content or design. Or improvise by including bloggers who have no idea who you are because you don’t have 7 friends. Show the 7 random victims’ names and links and leave a harassing comment informing them that they were prized with “Honest Weblog.” Well, there’s no prize, but they can keep the nifty icon. List at least ten honest things about yourself. Then, pass it on! "

Of course no one deserves this award more than us cause we are simply wonderful (that's the bragging bit)

Now I will list some honest things about myself and my sisters.

1. Lucy is a big toughie on the lead but take her off lead and put her with lots of other dogs she doesn't know and she becomes the biggest sookie baby ever.

2. Tess is scared of loud noises. If she is by herself she is terrified. If she hears a loud noise and Bryan is in the room she couldn't care less....now that is odd.

3. Willow is at the bottom of the pecking order in this household. She is quite used to Lucy telling her off.

4. I like to have quiet time. That means I spend a lot of time by myself upstairs away from certain sissies.

5. I don't like anything blocking my staircase. If something is in the way I will cry until D or B moves it.

6. I cry a lot if I want something. It drives D crazy hehehe.

7. Tess is obsessed with Bryan. I'm not exaggerating. One day I will post evidence.

Now we're supposed to pass this on but we know lots of you have already received this award. If you haven't and would like to have a go please do so. It's fun.

We were also tagged by our human matie Blue to play this game:

What were you doing a year ago???"

Here is what we posted on February 14 2008.
G'day maties,Last week while many of our friends posted about the wonderful treats they received from Bogart we had to sit and drool. Here in Australia Quarantine will confiscate any food parcels that come into the country. So we had no choice but to make our own with a little help from Bogart. Thanks for the recipe matie. After pinky sliced the chicken breast, we aren't allowed to use the sharp knife, I popped it into the oven where it baked on a very low temperature for 2 hours. Here I am sampling the tasty chicken jerky........hmmmm yum yum

Now it's our turn to ask the question "what were you doing a year ago today?"

We tag Gus & Waldo and Gus, Louie and Callie to play this meme.

Lastly, we just want to update you on Willow's abscess.

On Wednesday our Vet removed one of Willow's top teeth. She was such a trooper at the vet. She recovered from the aneasthetic so quickly that she actually bounded out of the vet when B went to pick her up. You wouldn't even know she was put under. She is taking her meds like a good dale. In 2 weeks she goes back for a check up but so far so good. Hopefully the nasty abscess will be long gone.

Here she is resting.....awwwww.

It's been raining here for some days now. We are so happy the weather is much cooler after record temperatures in this area last weekend. We reached 38 degrees C last Sunday (100 F). It never gets that hot here. It is currently 9 degrees or 48 F. Big difference and much appreciated.

Have a good weekend maties. We'll posting about D & B's trip to New Zealand soon.

Bushfires in Victoria

G'day maties
We're very sad and distressed over the massive bushfires that have devastated the state of Victoria here in Oz. D & B have friends in the area including Brooke, Greg, Charlie & Opy. Thankfully all are accounted for and safe. So many others were not so lucky. The last count was 173 dead, and this is expected to rise, nearly 1000 homes destroyed and god knows the number of animals that have lost their lives. It's heartbreaking and unbelievable. The stories that have come through are distressing. So many didn't stand a chance as there was just no time to escape.
Horrific stories of people trying to leave affected areas by car and being engulfed by the flames. Just horrible.
The sheer scale of these fires is beyond comprehension. Sadly they still rage and could take weeks to contain.
Whole towns are gone, once idyllic little communities are now just ash. So many families and friends hearing the devastating news they didn't want to hear. Their loved ones gone. Hundreds now homeless and simply left with what they were wearing and others critically burnt.
The whole of the south eastern corner of the country was warned that last Saturday was going to be hot and the risk of fire extreme but no one could see this coming. It came across so quick and from all sides. The people living there truly did the best they could but they were overwhelmed.
Some of the fires were started by lightning strikes. Unbelievably others were deliberately lit. God knows how anyone could do that.

We'd like to thank those of you concerned for our safety. We are well and truly far from the NSW/Victorian border and thankfully there are no fires burning in the Blue Mountains where we live.
Our airedale friends Baz & Ellie and their pinkies live on the outskirts of Melbourne. They are close but not under any threat at this stage. Brooke & Greg were very close to one of the fires but from what I was told the wind changed direction and the fire turned away from them.
Another close friend had the fire come to the boundary of her property. Thankfully they were able to save their house and their airedales.

Australia suffers bushfires every year. It's the nature of the place but none have come close to this. It is clearly Australia's worst natural disaster.
